Hi, I am Georg

Grew up in Munich, studied at Weissensee School of Art and Design Berlin, and spent a winter at the Design Academy Eindhoven.

I still regularly return to Weissensee to teach MA and BA students about prototyping and Digital Product Design.

Designing for how humans interact with technology – especially solving complex problems where we can design for both bytes and atoms is my true passion.

In 2018 this passion drove me to found the IoT StartUp MonkeyBots with funding from the European Union.
Working for Ford since 2020, I am based in Cologne with frequent travels to Palo Alto and Dearborn for both of my two roles within Ford Model e:

Digital Design Lead for EU exclusive vehicle programs reporting directly to the HMI director where I lead projects such as the Electric Explorer.

My second role is Digital Design Lead on hardware / software interactions where I get to design for both atoms and pixels, reporting directly to the executive director of hardware/software & input/output.
None of this work is on the road yet but my approach roughly follows the process of my early Hybrid Interfaces Concept for the BMW Group.
When leading a multidisciplinary team, we will gather stakeholders around something non-abstract as soon as possible – I am a believer in fast and early prototypes and quick iterations.

Especially in-vehicle the position of the screen has an incredibly deep impact on the experience of the Digital Product, therefore, I really focus on prototypes shared with Interior Design.

The Last 3 Years

Became Code-Literate

I work closely with developers so I spent a summer learning to read and write code.

People & Pixels

As the first Digital Product Design Lead in the Ford EU Design Studio, I built a team and supervised a full HMI program for the Electric Explorer.
